The grain a tree keeps.
Ong-i

An ong-i is the hard whorl a tree leaves where a branch once grew. Only long-grown wood has one, and when you cut it open it becomes a pattern. In the culinary forest of Hannam-dong, we set that grain — the kind only time makes — on the table.

OUR STORY

A new path for Korean food, in the forest of Hannam

In the culinary forest of Hannam-dong, Ong-i charts a new path for Korean fine dining.

The depth of a Korean chef, precisely joined to a contemporary sensibility. We work inside the grammar of familiar Korean cooking and rewrite it in the language of now.

Wood, stone, onggi. Our room and our vessels all come from nature — a long narrow hall clad in solid timber, a grey stone wall, plates in red onggi glaze. What the food is served in is part of the meal.

Down to a traditional-liquor pairing your visiting friends will fall for, we guide you through the taste of Korea in the most Korean way there is.
